A Salute to the early days of sound and silent films with David Johnston on the organ. The National Theatre opened as a cinema in 1921 called "The Victory" and became a live theatre in 1974. Films were ceased as a regular session in 1971 |

Despite being part of the Festival and only an entry fee of $2 the Film screenings were hit by unusually bad weather (as was the St Kilda Festival itself) and patronage was poor. The six differing programmes devised by David Johnston and sourced by Barrie Robinson & David Brien were great fun including many Australian classics
