Excerpt from press release: "Bonegilla is situated in Victoria near the NSW border town of Albury where a migrant camp was in operation from 1947-1973. ... Life in Bonegilla was not easy with bad housing, lack of facilities, rancid food, the isolation and the problem of adjusting to the new, unfriendly country. Migration was viewed only in economic not psychological terms. Very little attention was given to the problems of adjusting to a new life...".
