| Description |
Programme: "This version of Medea harks back to one of the origins of theatre: it is an experience of theatre through dance and ritual. The text is spoken in Ancient Greek, in which we find that the architectural shapeliness of the language is charged with compelling rhythms and filled with archaic sonorities. In this way the old provides a base for a new approach to this primordial battle of the sexes. The sonorities of Ancient Greek are used as music would be in opera, to stimulate the senses more directly and to provide for a perception of events that words in themselves cannot give. This |
