Description "Written by Jorge Diaz [...], My Song is Free has been produced in Italy, Norway and Germany. Monstrous Regiment is proud to present the English language premiere of this important play.

Set in the year after the coup which, backed by the USA, replaced Salvador Allende and the elected Popular Unity government with a military dictatorship, My Song is Free depicts four women shut up in a secret place of detention, somewhere in Santiago, Chile. Nobody knows they are there.Their friends and relatives can get no information as to their whereabouts. The four women live out the mistrust and fear bred by a regime which names all who oppose it as 'subversives' and 'communists' and which controls all protest by means of torture, murder and enforced disappearance. They must discover if there is a betrayer in their midst... in the atmosphere of political terror no-one is free from the suspicion of changing sides under the pressure of torture.

My Song is Free is based on a true incident."
