Description A Magpie Theatre commission from British young people's playwright David Holman, resident in Adelaide at the time, to write a play dealing with the recent drought. Matilda Bell's Mallee parents shoot their sheep, sell up their farm and move to the city ... whereupon Matilda is so traumatised she cannot speak until a chance meeting on a beach with a Vietnamese refugee, whose story of uprooting is even more harrowing than Matilda's.
