| Description |
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is officially the largest arts festival in the world. Performers come from as far away as Zimbabwe, Canada, Australia and Japan. It is also the biggest arts market in the world, and hosts some of the most exciting and groundbreaking shows you can find. This year is the 60th Fringe, and The Australian High Commission in London and the Fringe Society turns its focus on Australian performers and the wealth of talent they bring to Edinburgh. There are over forty Australian companies or acts appearing this year including comedians, theatre shows, walking tours, ukulele players, physical comedians, cabaret artists and acts that's defy definition.
Highlights include: Tracey Moffat, Aphids with Apples and Ladders and A Quarreling Pair, The Cat Empire, Ben Lee, Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen, The Spaghetti Western Orchestra, Tim Minchin – So Rock, and The Kransky Sisters – We Don’t Have Husbands.
Eclectic, unusual and fun is what the Fringe is all about and this Australian contingent of artists will shine a new light on the term! |
