Description A musical play in three acts with music.The show was originally produced by Arthur Hammerstein at the Casino Theatre, and opened 7 February 1923. The plot concerns a pretty Italian peasant named Nina Benedetto who had a reputation for temper and her way with boys. Gaston La Roche, a rich, distant uncle, dies leaving her 20,000 lira provided she keep her temper and act like a lady for six months. In order to comply, she has to give up Guido, the tenor, her lover, and not let her cousin Bianca’s slurs bother her, which she does.
