Dr Martin Luther King Jr has stood high upon the mountaintop and he’s seen the Promised Land. But on this rainy night in 1968 he mostly feels footsore, weary and sick at heart. From his shabby room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, the Promised Land seems as far away as ever. He calls down for room service and a maid arrives with coffee – and an unexpected message. Is it a message from the past or the future? |
