| Description |
In this production we have the rare opportunity to see Chekov's first play in the hands of a young Dutch company. Along the highway is less like the later plays and more like a movie from contemporary Americans such as Jim Jarmusch or Hal Hartley. It's a road play in which young men gather at a roadside tavern (call it a cafe or a motel), drink too much, interact with the local band, fight and get mixed up with a strange woman. Full of brash fun and liberal lashings of vodka, this is highly energetic and infectious theatre. |
