The National Amphitheatre |
| Abstract/Description |
During the past few weeks the erstwhile rendevous of the National Sporting Club has been transformed by the proprietor, Mr James Brennan, into the National Amphitheatre. A suitable stage for vaudeville purposes, with a proscenium and footlights in regular form, has been put up, and the site of the old boxing ring affords space for nearly 200 stalls. Those are padded, and immediately from them rises tier on tier of bare benches (well backed) right up to the roof and back wall of the auditorium, which thus accommodates people to tho estimated number of between 3000 and 4000. This rather primitive arrangement affords a remarkably clear view of the stage unobstructed by posts, to every one in the house. |
