| Abstract/Description |
Rep fans who paddled their way to the Wills St. Playhouse on Saturday night had their watery labors rewarded by a performance of William Douglas Home's forgettable "Reluctant Debutante" - an artificial bit of pastry about superficial people whose only solid food appeared to be the occasional accidental ingestion of a champagne cork. - As in most of these brainless bedroom comedies of the British export variety, laughs weren't lacking, but wit often wanting. In a play of this sort, the dialogue should have the verbal snap and bounce of professional ping-pong, and much depends upon a bright and brittle mood. |
