The winner of the best play in the under 17 category of the junior section of the 17th Tasmanian Drama Festival, the Radio 7EX Trophy, was Howrah Primary School with "The Sultan and the Genii". Howrah Primary School was also awarded the Launceston Players Shield for the best original play written by Graeme Round.
