The Tasmanian New Theatre Group with Save Me the Waltz, was a finalist at the 13th Tasmanian Drama Festival and was awarded the Launceston Players Plaque. The Douglas Caddy trophy for best actor went to Arthur Burridge of the Tasmanian New Theatre Group and Peter Marshall of the Hobart Repertory Theatre Society.
