Description "This excellent [new Tivoli], by far the largest public building in the colony outside Perth, was crowded to excess, and the whole programme was thoroughly enjoyed... The comic element was well represented by Mr. W. B. Warner and Mr. Joe Cowan, each of whom recited humorous pieces in characteristic fashion."

Further Information Good Friday opening of the newly completed Tivoli Theatre, Coolgardie, Western Australia; benefit performance towards widows and orphans of miners killed in the Mt. Charlotte mine disaster, Kalgoorlie. Proceeds were 65 pounds, of which 53 were donated. The rival Royal Cremorne Gardens, Coolgardie, went dark on 16 April 1897, in order not to compete with the benefit.
