Description |
In the long role of the young House Tutor (Nigel Lorraine), Colin Harper gave a faultless performance. The quality of his acting and his extraordinary sense of timing kept the audience emotionally in tune with the lightest variations of his sympathies and dissensions. To his portrayal of a sympathetic, but quietly strong minded young Tutor, he brought a polish rarely seen on the amateur stage. His allegiance to his principles and his understanding of the boy Read (the guinea pig) are directly counter-poised by those of the House Master, "Lloyd Hartley," played by Edward Lowe. These two players are responsible for the play's controversial and challenging question - whether, in fact the introduction of a boy from the slums of London into a famous Public School can be successful. |
