Description |
The play deals with an incident in the life of a woman who, when young, had been tried on a charge of murder in Scotland and acquitted on the grounds that the charge was "not proven." This third verdict takes away the penalty, but leaves the stain, causing the "suspect" to be virtually an outcast from the rest of society. This play attempts to establish the guilt or innocence of the woman in question. |
