| Description |
A 'melodramatic farce' in three acts. Macaire was presented as a double bill with the production "To-morrow." The performance raised funds for the "purchase of a new Racing Eight for the University Boat Club." A Review in the Sydney Morning Herald noted that the audience included Governor and Lady Chelmsford, the Chief Justice and Lady Cullen and the University of Sydney Chancellor Sir Normand McLaudin. This review said that this production of Macaire "showed no trace of Stevenson's genius, and was commonplace without being funny." |
