Description "The first scene of Act 1 takes place in a Cafe in Naples, where Don Alfonso, a rather cynical old bachelor, is entertaining two young officers, Ferrando and Gratiano, who are engaged respectively to Isadora and Dorabella. He listens to their rhapsodies, which amuse him greatly, and then wagers that the two girls would not be loyal if their lovers were absent. This is followed by a brief scene in a garden adjoining the home of the two young ladies, where Don Alfonso tells them that their lovers have received marching orders and are about to leave with their regiment."
