Description Lady Hadwell is the widow of the owner of a large estate of Hadwell Hall, and has no money to run such an estate. She has opened the Hall as a tourist attraction, ably managed by a young cockney named Joe Studholme and his four helpers. Lady Hadwell has three daughters, Fiona, Penelope and Charlotte, the latter is known as Charlie and the tomboy of the family. Lady Hadwell is to be visited by Kay Connor, the widow of an Amercian millionaire who is bringing her only son Jack and wants to see him married.
