| Description |
Maria Rainer is a postulant at the Nonnberg Abbey, who loves her country, the mountains and above all singing. She is frequently having to toe the line with the sisters, who find her exuberance very out of place in the abbey. Mother Abbess places Maria in the position of governess to Captain Von Trapp's seven children. The children become very fond of her. In turn she falls in love with them and the Captain. However war clouds in the form of the Anschluss are hovering overhead and after singing in a song festival they all escape over the mountains to Switzerland and eventually America. |
