  					Lady Ursula Barrington, who is desperately in love with the famous woman-hater Sir George Sylvester, determines that he shall break his rule that no woman may be permitted to enter his house. A scheme, in which she pretends to faint near the knight's residence, with the object of gaining an invitation to rest within its walls, signally fails, the gentleman informing her, however, that she may rest at the porter's lodge. Lady Ursula's elder brother considers this an insult to his sister, and challenges Sir George to a duel. The duel Lady Ursula sets herself to stop, and the method she adopts to secure her end is a bold one. Petticoats had kept her out, pantaloons should get her in.
