At this place of amusement last night the comic drama of 'The Gipsy Farmer' was performed, after which the necromancer, Professor Stephenson, made his appearance to perform some of his so-called magic tricks. He was very slow in his movements so slow that the deception was too palpable to be pleasing, but the failures were received with good humour. One of the card tricks was well done, but the others far too clumsily. He excused himself from doing the gun trick as his pistols were not in order, and the electro-biological experiments were not attempted. |
