| Description |
Central theme: paranoid fear of others and the world outside the family. In the play, set in an apartment building, the family is continually running away from the 'Noise'. The nature of the problem they are running away from is unspecified….To escape they climb the stairs of their building, barricading themselves into progressively constricted living conditions. |
