Love arid hate, villainy and virtue, form the theme of 'The Midnight Wedding,' which Mr Allan Wilkie will present this evening. The piece is melodrama m a romantic setting- The plot, which is laid in a small European State, is full of excitement and unexpected and romantic incidents, which grip the attention. It is a story of court and army life, containing much intrigue,.with a good leaven of high-minded virtue, which in such a setting amount almost to the chivalry of the knights of old. There are duels, attempted assassinations, and, of course, the wedding at midnight in a dimly-lighted chapel, between people who did not know one another. A vein of excellent comedy runs throughout the story. |
