Description An opera in three acts, set in 202BC. The Roman army led by Scipio and Cato and its allies have just won the battle of Sama, decisively defeating the Carthaginians under Hasdrubal. Many prisoners have been taken, including King Syphax, an ally of Carthage. Some of the victorious Roman troups have already begun the task of destroying Carthage and enslavinng its inhabitants.
