| Description |
Long Day's Journey Into Night managed to sustain (for well over three hours) the conflict between pessimistic atheism and blindly impersonal material gain; the hopeless gulfs that exist among a morphine-addicted mother and carousing actor son, a consumptive son with socialist sympathies and an imperious and tragically healthy father widened before us in a production marked by a firm if uninspired control. |
