Description Natalie Parnell is a bedridden hag engrossed in a world of 'True Romance', mean, cunning and a hypochondriac. Her father Ken is a weak old man trapped by a paternal loyalty to his daughter, whose only escape is the boozey companionship of his mates at the pub. The third character is Pug Fenster, an aging boxer living on his past glories and caught in the Fernster house by bad luck and blackmail. They and their house are all obstacles to progress in the form of the Wellington Motorway, which is waiting all too eagerly outside in the form of a sinister bulldozer ready to rip them apart. It is a bleak comedy, but one of compassion for the three derelicts as they snarl, claw and fight each other for three desperate weeks as the modern world inches closer and closer and finally kills one of them, and eaves the other two, and us, with the prospect of a future full of obstacles even more frightening than those they had experienced.
