Description Archibald MacIndoe, an expatriate New Zealand surgeon, restored the faces of many of pilots burned in fighter planes in WW2. The Face Maker examines MacIndoe's love/hate relationship with one of his patients in this intelligent and moving play. Hoar's play poses many important questions: Did MacIndoe's restoration work made him a Frankenstein or a saviour? Does the surgeon own the results of his work or is the patient free to live his life as he sees fit? How does a patient heal their spirit?
