| Description |
Role-reversed physical theatre exploration of Henry VIII, which uses a flamboyant acting style, and is created by improvising around a storyline. Running time: 75 minutes. 'Not since James Beaumont's The Three Sisters has the total space of the Taki Rua Theatre been used so effectively. At the start when the doors are flung open by Anne Boleyn to let the audience in, we see her sister Mary sitting on the long white narrow ledge, lit by blinding white lights but only partially visible because of the swirling mist. Running above the full length of the stage is a metal track from which hang a thin metal ladder and a metal cross. Henry enters gliding majestically above his subjects; at other times the characters hang upside down likes carcasses in an abattoir'. |
