Description Mr. RIGNOLD, in placing this version of the above celebrated novel before the public, has sought to eliminate those lugubrious passages which have hitherto been the leading feature in the play, and has adhered more particularly to the powerful dramatic incidents afforded by the escape of Eliza and her husband George Harris, from the Slave States of America to their ultimately happy home in Canada. A slight liberty has been taken with the original story by Uncle Tom joining them there, and, by so doing, avoiding the tragic episode of Uncle Tom's death, which to modern audiences has become objectionable.
