| Description |
Nine hundred dancers, many in vivid Chinese costumes, were at the China Ball at the Town Hall organised by the women's auxiliary committee of the Chinese Comforts Fund. To provide supper dishes of "Chao fun" or Chinese fried rice for the hundreds of dancers, Chinese citizens in Sydney gave up some of their rice ration. An auction was conducted by Max Lawson, with Dr Hsu Mo giving a 200-years-old vase. |
