Description A fast-paced musical which examines the relationship between a mother and her daughter. Through scenes which jump from the past to the present and back again, we begin to understand why the unforgiving Mummy is so hard on her daughter. Mummy gave away her trust and virginity to a smooth-talking man and received little help from her mother when she wound up pregnant. She has made sacrifices to raise Betty, as she constantly reminds her, but despite the fact she planned to be a perfect mum she is guilty of many of the mistakes her own mother made.
A black comedy with music. Originally titled 'Hitler had a Mummy Too', this play explores a mother/daughter relationship and asks the question 'can we ever escape our conditioning?'. The two characters, Mummy and Betty compete for supremacy in a macabre, emotionally charged battle ground where both characters compete for supremacy in the relationship. Often seen as a 'sacred cow', the play offers another look at a mother /daughter and explodes some myths about how loving and tolerant this particular relationship is.
