Description The play was written in 1954 for the Bristol Old Vic, and because it was written for many actors and actresses more at home with Shakespeare and Sophocles than with song and dance routines Slade made his music as simple as possible. The story is a piece of whimsy about a magic piano that sets everybody dancing, event bishops and Cabinet Ministers.
