Arts categories crumble when Bobby Baker is in town. She trained as a painter but her work is not of the 'oil on canvas' kind. Indeed, if you wanted to use such terms to describe her action painting in Drawing on a Mother's Experience it would be 'Cold roast beef, skimmed milk, frozen fish pie, Guinness, yoghurt, blackcurrants, chutney, tea, black treacle, eggs, sugar, brandy and strong white flour on a white cotton double sheet.'
