Description |
This play tells the story of the search for the big winner as a substitute for the grinding struggle to achieve fulfillment by more conventional means - and the ultimate price to be paid for the sweetness of a moment of glory.
'It's no mistake to call this the sport of kings, because only kings survive here.' So one of the characters wryly observes in a new play by Peter Hardham, exploring the motivation of the gambler. The world of the racetrack is the most colorful and unique in our society. It is inhabited by many unusual and transitory characters who live their lives as if today is the last day of the Cosmic Race Calendar.
Tony is a comparative new-comer to this landscape who soon realizes there is a fine and indistinct path between courage and obsession. His friends, whom he seduces into joining him on this journey are all facing a similar choice between a life of security or a life of daring.
