This is the first stop on the Queensland leg of the tour, after the Fatal Wedding company split in two. Thee last performance by the other troupe was at Toowoomba Town Hall on Monday 28th May 1906. A new troupe was formed to continue on the tour in Australia, while the original cast sailed to New Zealand. This new troupe is the one featured here.
It was reported on Sunday 3rd June in Truth (Brisbane, QLD) p.6 “The Fatal Wedding has departed. This choice comestible has divided itself into two parts, and the Tin-Can Band has been split in twain. The original cast, with section one of the Jam-Tin Orchestra, played Toowoomba to rattling biz on Saturday and Monday, whence they proceeded to Seddon-land by the Zealandia last Thursday. The duplicate, with a brand-new powerful cast, supported by the remainder of the “Tin-Canners,” has been despatched on a northern worry, and opened at Gympie on Monday, cramming that venerate pile, the Theatre Royal, to its utmost capacity.” |
