From the programme: 'The artist has chosen to focus on two traditionally opposing terms, male and female, exploiting the difference between male and female as she experiences it. She questions whether sexuality and gender are rightfully thought of as natural or whether they should be understood as social constructs. Perhaps in another time and place we could not think, and ultimately not experience, anatomical sexual difference as the foundation of gender. |
