1/2 HR R&J: featuring La Trobe University An irreverent and hilarious take on the most famous tragedy of all time. 'Romeo and Juliet' has inspired countless works of art since it first appeared in 1595. Operas, musicals, movies, songs, paintings have been produced because of it and it has become synonymous with doomed love. But what does it mean to a bunch of young people in 2012? The '1/2 Hour R&J' will be chaotic, fast and rude. And lots of fun. Orpheus: featuring the Studio Based on Jean Cocteau's 1950s film, 'Orpheus' is a variation of the classic legend. In Greek mythology, Orpheus was a troubadour who charmed even the animals. His wife Eurydice was taken by Death. Orpheus descended to the underworld, and used his charm to return with Eurydice to the land of the living but could never look at her again. Eventually he did... Program B – Thur 29 Nov + Sat 1 Dec Family Reunion: featuring the Masterclass Margaret, the one-eyed matriarch of the Hunter family, is hosting the traditional annual celebration of her wedding anniversary, despite the death of Dad years before. She keeps a tight grip on her four sons, binding them to her with gifts, threats and a ruthless exploitation of their weaknesses. But this year revolt is in the air. Join us for a very black comedy of a dysfunctional family in 1950s Australia. |
