| Description |
Italy, and the reminiscences of Italy, are the themes o this enticing program. Verdi's dramatic overture is a wonderful complement to Respighi's panoramic homage to the ancient trees that dominate the Roman landscape. Harold in Italy, a unique soundscape for viola and orchestra, was written by one of the 19th century's crucial characters, Hector Berlioz, in tribute to Lord Byron, and dedicated to Niccoli Paganini. |
