Description "On December 13 and 15 1923, audiences in the (Adelaide) Town Hall heard the first performance in SA - some writers claim the first in Australia - of the 'Messiah' in its entirety. The versions usually sung cover only about half of Handel's original score. The 1923 Adelaide performances, given by the Adelaide Harmony Society, augmented by the Norwood Wesley Church choir (180 voices in all) conducted by Samuel Gould, were spread over two nights, with only the Overture, the Pastoral Symphony and the Alleluia Chrous repeated on the second night. ....
