| Description |
This is one show where there will be no language barrier. Australia's leading giant puppet experimental theatre, Snuff Puppets, will conduct a Peoples' Puppet Project with young adults from Dharavi in Mumbai.
Produced by Divya Bhatia in collaboration with SNEHA (Society for Nutrition Education and Health Action), and supported by creative learning organisation The Pomegranate Workshop and the Maharashtra Nature Park, Snuff Puppets will conduct a workshop where young people design and build giant puppets with local and international artists. The young participants will produce outdoor performances that will be part parade, part street theatre. The two-week collaborative workshop will also create a short season of performances that will premiere at the NCPA's Centre Stage Festival and Mood Indigo Festival at IIT, Mumbai. Snuff Puppets’ work combines elements of puppetry, live music, visual and physical theatre to create art that is accessible and challenging, visually spectacular and politically incisive. |
