| Description | Margaret Walker Folk Dance Centre Inc. and Lingalayam present
Soloist: Anandavalli Sivanathan Anandavalli is one of the most versatile Bharatha Natyam dancers today. She has danced in Sri Lanka, India, the United Kingdom, West Germany, Soviet Union, Pakistan, Singapore and Australia. The program features Bharatha Natyam and Kuchipudi styles. Bharatha Natyam, probably the most highly refined of the seven Indian classical dance styles, calls on the rich repertoire of imaginary and episodes available in the Hindu mythology as a medium of expression. Kuchipudi, a blend of classical and folk style from Andra State in India, is lighter in theme and faster in movement and has a lucid charm of rhythm and mime. |
