| Description |
From the programme: "The story of the Play, “ The Lyons Mail,” is founded on a case of mistaken identity which occurred in France in 1797. The Mail travelling from Paris to Lyons was robbed and the guard murdered by a gang of ruffians headed by one Dubosc. Unfortunately, a worthy citizen named Lesurques bore a striking resemblance to Dubosc, so striking as to deceive even his father. On account of this likeness to the real robber, Lesurques was arrested and accused of a crime of which he was entirely innocent." |
