| Description | Moving, disturbing and unnervingly funny, The Secret Fall of Constance Wilde is a vivid, and at times nightmarish vision of a tragedy which has until now been overlooked: the story of Constance Holland-Lloyd's relationship with her husband Oscar Wilde and his lover Lord Alfred Douglas. Founded by Yeates, the Abbey Theatre is one of Ireland's much loved institutions and this is an astonishing piece of theatre. Blending Kubuki theatre, Bunraku puppetry and European minimalism with an Irish cast, director Patrick Mason and set designer Joe Vanek have created a beautifully stylised production. |
