It as the location of the terminus of the North Mount Lyell Railway and the abandoned town of Pillinger on the South-Eastern side of Macquarie Harbour. The township thrived between 1898 and 1901. Percy Waxman, licensee of the Shamrock Hotel, built a hall which provided a venue for church servicers, balls and performances by the Blind Musicians Society | |
