Notes The ‘lost’ Temple of Concord stood somewhere between St John’s Cathedral and the Hunter River from early 1840s to 1857, but its exact location is a mystery. It gained fame as the home of Maitland’s Total Abstinence Society, which was led by the local Catholic priest, Father Lynch. The Temple of Concord was destroyed by flooding in 1857 and had to be demolished.
