| Abstract/Description |
THE THEATRE.-The performances on Thursday evening were under the pat- ronage of the Stewards of the late St. Patrick's Ball; and the house, it is almost unneccessary to add, was, in consequence, numerously ahd respectably attended. The picces were the " Merchant of Venice," and "The Irish Tutor."
The play was gone through in a satisfactory manner. Mr. Lazar seems to improve with every representation of the Jew. Mrs. Cameron performed the character of Portia, in general, in a satisfactory manner; but in one or two instances, her reading was defective. On two different occasions she, has affirmed that it would be recorded for a President" she might as well say Chairman.
The song of the "Mocking Bird," by Mrs.Clarke, was well executed and consequently applauded. The 'Irish Tutor" kept the house in good humour. |
