| Abstract/Description |
These two brief seasons come from opposite ends of the contemporary dance spectrum, but they are equally satisfying and enjoyable. Shelley Lasica and Sandra Parker have perfected what I call "gallery dance" - dance as exhibit, as a perfect aesthetic abstraction. Their luminous dance is framed by the long warehouse space and Bryan Smith's lighting palette.
The Danceworks programme proves that dance can be accessible and fun without being jejune and hopelessly superficial. The choreography is eclectic and intriguing. And who else would dare blend tap with trash dancing? |
