Title A city music hall
Abstract/Description Last week a contract was lot for the re-modelling of the premises in Castlereagh street, near King-street, city, lately occupied by the National Sporting Club, and converting the same into a large music hall. The hall Is 155ft in length and 75ft wide, and will accommodate 5000 people. It will be on the amphitheatre style, and there will be several tiers of galleries. The roof is to be reconstructed and supported by stool girders in order to do away with columns or stanchions. Tho roof will be a sliding; one. There will be 10 exits. Each staircase will be 7ft wide. There will also be appliances for the prevention of fire. The staging arrangements will be on the most improved style. The cost of the work will be about £6000. Messrs. Eaton and Bates are the architects, and the contractor is Mr. C. B. Smith.
