This archive contains business, legal and financial materials related to the Comedy Opera Company, the Royal English Opera House, the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, the Savoy Theatre and Savoy Hotel buildings. The archive also contains personal ephemera, published works, correspondence, photographs and cuttings relating to individuals (Richard D'Oyly Carte, Helen Carte, W.S. Gilbert, Arthur Sullivan and Bridget D'Oyly Carte, as well as performers in the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company), costume and set designs, libretti, prompt books, programmes, posters and promotional materials, cuttings scrapbooks, audio/visual materials, and a number of objects. All items of correspondence, agreements, and financial materials are originals unless otherwise stated at series or file level. |
